Welcome to the Willow Wheelers Cycling Club Web-Site. This web-site is aimed to appeal to several different groups. Firstly it aims to be of service and interest to the members of the Willow Wheelers. Important Notice: This is the OLD Willow Wheelers web site and has not been updated since 1999. The content of this site will be integrated into the new site. www.willowwheelers.ie is the NEW Willow Wheelers web site. Click here to go to the new site. Thank you Secondly the site aims to be a useful reference to the parents and children of Willow Park school who may not be members of the club, but do take an interest it's activities. Perhaps with a view to appling to join the club at a later date, but not having done so yet. Finally the site aims to publicise the activities of the Willow Wheelers Cycling Club to all non-members. It is likely to be of interest to cycling clubs, schools, teachers, youth leaders, children, etc, etc. This site is kindly being hosted free-of-charge by "Freeservers". In return for hosting the website for us, Freeservers place adverts at the top of each of the web pages (above the black line that is above page heading). Please note that these ads are not an intended part of the website and as such can be ignored. Further details about how you can get your own Freeservers webspace can found by clicking here.
Now, please come on in, to find out more about us.
The club membership is made of pupils, past pupils, and parents of Willow Park and Blackrock College. The club currently has approximately 200 members. We meet every Sunday, during the school term, in the grounds of the school. On any given Sunday we would normally have between 60 and 100 cyclists present. The cyclists are split into groups based on age and cycling ability, and depart within a few minutes of each other, all heading for the same destination. The length of the cycles vary in distance from 30 miles (our often done Eniskerry run) to 75 miles, depending on the time of year and the weather conditions. Places visited regularly include Eniskerry, Ashford, Blessington, Roundwood, Newtown Mount-Kennedy, Malahide, Swords & Howth. Click here to see where we went Last Sunday. Click here to see where we will go Next Sunday. The club could not have got as far as it has today, without the assistance of the parents, who have helped enormously by supporting the various fund raising activities organised through out the year. See the Calendar of Events page for details of these activities. We have also had a great deal of valuable sponsorship from various companies, for which we are extremely grateful. For a full list of our sponsors please see our Sponsors Page.
